The groundworks for the first phase of the P5.5-billion housing project under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental is set to start this week.

Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson said Wednesday the developer has already arrived.

As suggested by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Tongson said the groundbreaking for the 4PH project will be held simultaneously with the turnover and ribbon cutting of the Yuhum Residences in Bacolod City next month.

He said that a total of 3,000 condominium-type housing units will be constructed in Himamaylan City, with a budget of P170 million to P180 million per building.

The cities of Bacolod and Victorias in Negros Occidental are also implementing the 4PH, the flagship housing program of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Tongson said this collaboration with DHSUD is expected not only to improve the living conditions of residents, but also stimulate economic growth and development in Himamaylan, setting a promising example for addressing housing challenges nationwide.

The target beneficiaries will be residents of Himamaylan City, especially those who need proper housing units, and is also a good opportunity for men and women in the government such as teachers.

“I am confident that 2024 will be a milestone year for our President’s Pambansang Pabahay. Slowly but surely, we are now reaping the fruits of our labor,” DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said in a statement. | GB
