The groundbreaking ceremony for the P47-million Bacolod Tree and Eco Park in Barangay Alangilan will be held on Sept. 4, about nine months after city officials, led by Mayor Alfredo Benitez, visited the site Jan. 14.

The city said Aug. 22 that the “most-awaited groundbreaking ceremony…for the soon-to-rise Bacolod Tree and Eco Park in Alangilan” is scheduled next month.

The project will feature numerous amenities, which the public can enjoy, such as a jogging/walking trail, airsoft arena, children’s playground, reception hall, a gazebo and cottages overlooking a lagoon, and a picnic grove, among many others, the city Public Information Office said.

“It will serve as a place for recreation, which the public can freely visit, (and) spend time together with family and friends,” it added.

The eco-park that will rise in an 8.7-hectare property is funded under the P4.4-billion loan of the city government with the Development Bank of the Philippines, city engineer Loben Ceballos had said after the visit, adding the Design and Build project will have five phases.

Benitez earlier said in a post that his administration “will work towards creating a beautiful and environmentally-conscious space for every Bacolodnon to enjoy.” | CGC
