Mayor Greg Gasataya has ordered an immediate inspection of all carnival facilities operating in Bacolod to guarantee public safety.

This as seven individuals were hurt when a horror train ride at the carnival at the back of the Bacolod Government Center overturned Monday night, Oct. 13.

The mayor promptly summoned the carnival owner and operator to address the incident and ensure that proper assistance was provided to the victims. Reports said the carnival management has covered the medical expenses of those injured, the city said.

“Each party has their own version of the event; we cannot make any confirmation until a thorough assessment of the incident is completed,” Gasataya said when asked about the possible cause of the accident, hence his order.

Personnel from the Mechanical Division of the City Engineer’s Office, headed by Engr. Loben Ceballos, along with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, inspected the carnival site.

Gasataya said the city will await the inspection results and recommendations from the CEO and DRRMO before making a final determination regarding the operation of the carnival.

“Safety is our utmost concern, which is why we have asked the City Engineer’s Office to inspect all carnivals operating during the (MassKara Festival) celebration,” he stressed. ||
