Grandpa, 8 others nabbed in P1.5-M shabu operations

Nine drug suspects were arrested by the police in a series of buy-bust operations, which yielded an estimated P1.519 million worth of suspected shabu, on June 15 and 16 in Negros Occidental.

In Bacolod City, operatives seized about 205 grams of shabu from a 61-year-old man and his 21-year-old grandson in Purok Lubi, Barangay 3 on Sunday.

The confiscated shabu has an estimated market value of P1.394 million.

Both of them are now detained at the custodial facility of Bacolod City Police Office Station 2.

Two others were apprehended by the police at Hacienda La Consolacion in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City on Saturday.

The arrest of the 19-year-old and 27-year-old suspects led to the recovery of about 12 grams of shabu valued at P81,600 and 50 grams of  dried marijuana leaves worth P6,000.

On the same day, a drug suspect was arrested at Sitio Barra in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, which yielded 17 sachets of shabu and P3,000 in marked money.

A total of P51,060 worth of  shabu and dried marijuana leaves were seized  from seven other arrested suspects in the cities of La Carlota, Cadiz and Victorias as well as in Cauayan town also on Saturday.

An improvised homemade gun with an ammunition of caliber .38 revolver was recovered from one   suspect, a 28-year-old laborer, in Hacienda San Ramon, Barangay 14, Victorias City.

The identities of the nine suspects have been withheld by the police.

All of them would be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. | GB
