Granada dancers win P1 million in MassKara fest

Barangay Granada went home with the P1 million prize money in the arena and street-dance competition while Barangay 17 bagged the P300,000 cash prize in the Electric MassKara float and dance showdown as the three-week MassKara Festival of Bacolod City ended yesterday, Oct. 23.

Sum-ag placed second to Granada and won P500,000 while Estefania claimed the P300,000 cash prize for third place.

Granada was also adjudged best in music and most disciplined, while Estefania was best in theme and music, and Sum-ag took home the best in mask and costume award. Alijis was best in introduction.

Other winners are Brgy. 35 as 3rd runner-up; Singcang-Airport, 4th runner-up; Tangub, 5th runner-up; Brgy. 31, 6th runner-up; and Alangilan, 7th runner-up.

In the electric MassKara competition Oct. 22, Barangay 25 was first runner-up and won P200,000 in cash prize, while Barangay 32 received P150,000 as second runner-up.

The judges in the Electric MassKara included Maricris Zobel, Hayden Kho, Dr. Vicky Belo, Alodia Gosiengfiao, and Tim Yap.

The event on Saturday at the Bacolod Government Center grounds was witnessed by First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, presidential sons Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos and Vinny Marcos, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez and Sangguniang Panlungsod members, Megaworld executive vice president and chief strategy officer Kevin Tan, Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, and Victorias City Mayor Javi Benitez, among others. ||
