Gov’t accountants of NegOr., Siquijor hold induction rites

Dumaguete City Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, representing Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, delivered the keynote message to the officers and members of the Association of Local Government Accountants of the Province of Negros Oriental and Siquijor (ALGAPNORS), led by its president, Marie Jun Maturan, in a hotel in the city Aug. 16.

Maxino said she recognizes the vital role of government accountants in making sure that all expenditures and disbursements are in accordance with the law, and transparent, to avoid misuse and wastage.

The municipal and city accountants of Negros Oriental and Siquijor are members of the association, and the newly-elected officers have taken their oaths of office to become good stewards of their organization’s mission and vision, the city said.

Aside from Maturan, the other newly-inducted officers are vice-president Karen Joy Mente, secretary Karen Jean Anfone-Lobos, treasurer Roselyn Ubag, assistant treasurer Rowena Oralde, and auditor Mark Jovan Acibo.

The members of the Board of Directors are John Michael Salutan, 1st District; Adrian Ralph Despi, Second District; Maria Ana Delfino, 3rd District; and Nergen Cutad, Siquijor.

The outgoing officers, led by former president Romulo Jo Jr., were awarded plaques of appreciation by the association. LGU-Dumaguete accountant Doreen Cordova, meanwhile, introduced Maxino as the keynote speaker. ||
