Local members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition bade farewell to former Negros Occidental 4th District congressman Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco in a Holy Mass this morning, Ash Wednesday, at the St. The Archangel Parish Church in Pontevedra town.

They remembered the legacy and good deeds of Cojuangco, who was the Tarlac 1st District solon at the time of his death on Feb. 22. He was 58.

Provincial officials, headed by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson and congressman Gerardo Valmayor Jr. of the 1st District of Negros Occidental, attended the farewell mass along with officials of the 4th District and the municipality of Pontevedra.

After the mass, the attendees joined a novena prayer for the eternal repose of his soul.

Cojuangco served as a three-term congressman of the 4th District of Negros Occidental in the early 2000.

He succumbed to a brain aneurysm after months of recuperating from injuries sustained in a race-track crash in Subic in October 2021.

He was the youngest son of the late business tycoon, Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, who passed away in June 2020. |MML
