The last week of January is observed in the Philippines as National Bible Week, a time set apart to honor, read, and live out the Word of God.

This year’s theme, “God’s Word Brings LIFE: Love, Integrity, Faith, and Engagement,” reminds us that the Bible is not only a sacred text, but a living Word that shapes character, guides decisions, and transforms lives. In a world searching for meaning and direction, God’s Word continues to give LIFE.

First, learn Love through God’s Word.

God’s Word teaches us to love God and love others. Love in Scripture is not merely emotion, but commitment and action. Through the Bible, we learn compassion, forgiveness, and self-giving love, modeled perfectly in Jesus Christ.

Let God’s Word guide how you treat others, especially those who are difficult to love. Read Scripture with the intention of becoming more loving in speech, attitude, and action.

Second, build Integrity by obeying God’s Word.

Integrity flows from a heart shaped by Scripture. God’s Word forms character, teaching us honesty, faithfulness, and moral courage. When the Word is hidden in our hearts, it guides us even when no one is watching.

Allow Scripture to shape your choices, both public and private. Integrity grows when God’s Word becomes the standard by which we live.

Third, strengthen Faith through God’s Word.

Faith grows as we listen to God’s Word. Scripture reveals God’s promises, faithfulness, and power. In times of doubt or fear, the Word of God anchors our trust and renews our confidence in Him.

Make Scripture a daily source of encouragement. Let God’s promises strengthen your faith, especially during trials and uncertainties.

Fourth, express Engagement by living out God’s Word.

Engagement means putting God’s Word into action. The Bible calls us to serve, to seek justice, and to live out our faith in everyday life. Scripture comes alive when it moves from our lips to our lives.

Engage with God’s Word through obedience and service. Let Scripture guide your involvement in the church, the community, and the nation.

As we observe National Bible Week, may God’s Word bring LIFE to every part of our being. Let it teach us Love, form our Integrity, strengthen our Faith, and move us toward faithful engagement. When Scripture shapes our lives, it becomes a powerful witness to God’s transforming grace.
