Mayor Greg Gasataya said July 28 that the Bacolod City Police Office and the City Legal Office are now looking into the identity of the person caught on video while vandalizing a perimeter fence along Lacson Street, with a ‘BAHACOLOD’ graffiti.
The mayor said they are now reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area.
“One’s expression of oneself, one’s rights, and one’s feelings stops when the rights of other people are affected,” Gasataya stressed, noting that incidents of vandalism are nothing new and that the city has been receiving complaints from private property owners.
He added that Bacolod City has an existing ordinance on anti-vandalism, with fines ranging from P1,000 for first offense to P5,000 and 30 days to six months imprisonment, depending on the severity, for third and subsequent offenses. | TMD
