Mayor Greg Gasataya has assured his full support to concurrent Negros Occidental provincial election supervisor (PES), Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, who will serve as acting election officer of the Commission on Elections-Bacolod.
Ananoria met with Gasataya Sept. 21 to discuss the possible transfer of the Comelec-Bacolod office to a location that is more accessible to the public.
Ananoria also commended former election officer, Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña, who resigned from her post to serve as clerk of court.
“She has been very good, and it’s big shoes to fill, but we will continue the kind of public service she has shown,” Ananoria said of Trinio-Caña.
He also said that despite moves by Congress to postpone the holding of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this November, the Comelec will continue preparations as mandated.
“As of now, we are focused, full steam ahead. Unless there is a law passed resetting the barangay elections,” he added in a city press release.
Ananoria has served the Comelec for 20 years. In 2009, he was installed as PES of Aklan, and served as Negros Occidental PES prior to the 2022 elections. ||
