Bacolod Councilor Celia Flor has urged the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) to use PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material and incorporate QR codes in identification cards issued to Bacolodnon PWDs.
Flor, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs, noted that using the PVC material can enhance the ID’s longevity, ensuring sustained functionality over time.
“The utilization of PVC material aligns with modern standards and best practices in identification card production, contributing to a more reliable and professional representation of Bacolodnon PWDs,” she added in her resolution approved by the SP recently.
The councilor also stressed the need to incorporate a QR code in the ID, adding there were reports of fake PWD IDs and instances of non-recognition or non-acceptance by some establishments of valid PWD and solo parent IDs because these do not have QR codes.
“Identification cards play a crucial role in facilitating access and services for PWDs, serving as a key means of recognition and support,” Flor said, adding that PDAO is responsible for managing and addressing the needs of persons with disabilities in the city, hence her resolution./CGC
