A baby drowned as flood caused by heavy rains on Oct. 25 and 26 hit several areas in southern Negros, damaging some bridges and prompting evacuation of 219 families.

The flood damaged three bridges in Hinobaan and Sipalay City, while a landslide was reported in Maricalum, Brgy. San Jose, also in Sipalay.
Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, who led the evacuation and relief operations in her town, said that 46 families in Brgy. 1 Poblacion were evacuated to the municipal auditorium.
Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian, head of the Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Program Division, said that 118 families, composed of 457 individuals, evacuated from their respective homes in sitios and puroks of Brgy. 5, Maytubig and Romirang in Isabela.
Caelian said that 55 other families in Brgys.5, Bulwangan and Talagacay in Hinobaan town also evacuated to safer grounds.
Meanwhile, Local Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Officer Reynald Horegue said that Princess Joy Eustaño, a year and 3-month old baby, drowned in a creek at Sitio Barrio Daan, Brgy. Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla.
Eustaño was last seen playing with her 8-year-old sibling and was reported missing by her parents. Her lifeless body was later found in the creek, Horegue said. GPB
