Fire hits more houses in city

Seven houses were hit by fire on Wednesday, Aug. 21, in Purok Kasilingan, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, leaving an estimated damage to properties worth P768,810.

Based on the investigation of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), four houses were destroyed while three others were partially damaged, affecting nine families.

A certain Jhamil Toga, 23, suffered burns in his left arm, according to the BFP.

The cause and origin of the fire, which was put out by responding firefighters in 30 minutes, has yet to be established.

Meanwhile, fire victims in Barangay Taculing availed of financial assistance from the city government.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on Tuesday led the distribution to the affected families, who are now staying at the barangay evacuation center.

On Aug. 15, the fire destroyed three houses and brought damage to three others.

Owners of destroyed houses received P15,000 each while renters and sharers got P5,000. | GB
