Fire hits 40 houses in Bacolod City

Some 40 houses were gutted in two fire incidents in Bacolod City on Wednesday (June 26), reports of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

In Purok Magti-ayon, Barangay 10, the early morning blaze hit 29 houses located in an informal settlers’ area.

A total of 16 houses were destroyed while 13 others were damaged.

F/Supt. Jenny Mae Masip, city fire marshall, said they received the initial report regarding the blaze a few minutes past midnight, and the flames were extinguished by 12:16 a.m. after reaching the third alarm.

No one was reported hurt by the fire that started from the house of Ramona Espinosa Anoche.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause.

Initial damage was reported at P200,000.

In Barangay Tangub, 11 houses in Purok Roadside were affected, of which six were destroyed while five were damaged, initial report of the BFP showed.

The fire, which originated from the house of Silfa Nolasco, was reported at 3:07 p.m. and the fire out was declared at 3:45 p.m.

The damage was estimated at P600,000. | GB
