The Federation of Urban Poor (FED-UP) Negros will celebrate the 36th EDSA People Power on Friday, Feb. 25, with a walk from the Goldenfield Commercial Complex area towards the monument of Ninoy Aquino along Araneta Street in Bacolod City.
FED-UP officer Joy Jarabelo said their theme for the celebration is “People Power is Vote Power”.
“About 200 FED-UP members are expected to attend the event and we are inviting everyone to join to make a statement all over the world that EDSA was a reality,” Jarabelo said.
She added that every Filipino needs to remember that 36 years ago, millions of people voluntarily went out to the streets and filled EDSA and other public plazas nationwide to openly show their resistance against the Marcos regime.
“FED-UP’s EDSA celebration is a continuing protest of ours against the revisionism of our history and the Marcoses’ attempt to erase this historical event in our country,” Jarabelo added. | PR
