A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) in northern Negros recently gave himself up to the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC) in Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto.
Identified by the police as “Ka Dong”, he was part of the dismantled Northern Negros Front under the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor.
During his surrender, he turned over to the police a 40mm grenade launcher ammunition with a blasting cap and detonating cords, and a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.
In a statement, the 1st NOCPMFC said that alias “Dong”, who received an initial assistance of a sack of rice, will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program for him to avail of financial and livelihood assistance from the government.
Last week, three NPA members also surrendered to the Escalante City Police Station while they were on vacation from their rebel unit.
They were identified only as “Ka Kokoy”, “Ka Ashly” and “Ka Chan”, also remnants of the Northern Negros Front. | GB
