Ex-policewoman arrested for drugs

A former policewoman was among those arrested in separate buy-busts in Negros Island on Sept. 10 and 11, which resulted in the confiscation of P3.7 million worth of suspected shabu.

The arrest of alias “Tata” in Barangay 2 Poblacion, Sagay City on Wednesday yielded about 45 grams of suspected shabu valued at P306,000.

PLt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region, said the former policewoman was dismissed from service in 2023 for going absent without leave or grave neglect of duty.

Before her dismissal from service, she was assigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of Police Regional Office-Western Visayas in Iloilo City.

Aside from illegal drugs, also recovered from her possession were a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing five ammunition and P1,000 in marked money.

In Bacong, Negros Oriental, operatives confiscated about half a kilo of suspected shabu worth P3.4 million from alias “Cyrel”, 56.

Both suspects were categorized by the police as high-value individual drug personalities. | GB
