A former Overseas Filipino Worker in San Carlos City expressed gratitude for the government assistance she received under the ‘Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir’ program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The program, started six years ago, encourages OFWs, particularly licensed teachers, to return to the country by providing them with the option to work as public school teachers in the country.

The San Carlos OFW, Ma. Jennifer Campos, 38, a resident of Barangay 1 and a former teacher in Hanoi, Vietnam for ten years, said she will buy a computer set and other teaching materials she needs out of the P20,000-assistance she received from the program.
Campos was one of the six beneficiaries in Negros Occidental who received the assistance in a turnover activity held in Bacolod City on Tuesday.
Erel Lim, Public Employment Service Office in-charge in San Carlos City, said Campos had earlier applied for the program after she returned to the country.
Lim said that part of the privileges she received as beneficiary is her installation as a public school teacher. Campos is recently assigned at Ermita Elementary School in Sipaway Island. – NWI
