The Escalante City government has offered a 10-hectare property to be used as site of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) headquarters in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

The proposal of Mayor Melecio Yap Jr. was approved Wednesday, Feb. 26, during the quarterly meeting of the joint Provincial Peace and Order Council, Provincial Development Council and Anti-Drug Abuse Council meeting presided by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

The activation of PRO-18 is tentatively scheduled either on the first or second week of March, with Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil as the guest of honor during the activation rites to be held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

Under the setup, the PRO 18 will supervise the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and Bacolod City Police Office, which are presently under the Police Regional Office-6, and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and Siquijor Police Provincial Office, under the supervision of the Police Regional Office-7. | GB
