A 70-year-old female pedestrian died after a motorcycle struck her in Purok Tuburan, Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Nov. 3.

The police said that alias “Violeta”, a resident of the area, was crossing the highway after buying chicken feed from a store near the barangay hall, when she was hit by the black-and-red Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by alias “Carlito”, 32, of Barangay Camingawan, who is a delivery truck driver.

Barangay health workers rushed her to Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.

P/Lt. Col. John Ganzon, chief of the Kabankalan City Police, said Nov. 4 that “Carlito” and his motorcycle are still in the custody of the station.

The suspect will be charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide should the victim’s family refuse a settlement, Ganzon added. | TMD
