Tradition continues as 29 engaged couples in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental participated in this year’s mangrove growing activities and coastal clean-up at the Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail before their mass wedding.
The couples planted 800 mangrove trees on Jan. 30 as part of the requirements of the Local Civil Registrar’s Office headed by Mercedes Recla.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, the couples exchanged “I do’s” in the 25th Valentine mass wedding officiated by Mayor Matthew Malacon at the newly-renovated Wilkinson Social Court.

The mass wedding ceremony was also attended by members of the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Marvin Malacon and a representative of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The pre-wedding mangrove-growing activities, now on its eighth year, symbolizes the harmonious union of love and environmental stewardship. | GB
