Twenty-two of the 23 newly-elected barangay captains and all 23 winning Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons of E. B. Magalona in Negros Occidental took their oath before Mayor Marvin Malacon in a mass oath-taking rites held at the Municipal Building yesterday.
In his message, Malacon called on the officials to become agents of positive change in their respective communities by demonstrating strong leadership and dedicated service.
“Prove to your constituents that they were right in choosing you as their leaders by showing them that you have the heart to serve,” he added.
The ceremony was witnessed by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Councilors Gilda Parcon, Edgardo Agravante Jr., Gelita Parcon, Isidro Gomed Jr., and Edgar Jun Agravante.
Also present were Fr. Ernie Larida, parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Department of the Interior and Local Government municipal head Pierra Fuentespina-Lamayo, and municipal police chief Maj. Kenneth Jay Gratones.
Both Lamayo and Gratones assured the punong barangays and SK chairpersons, especially the first-termers, of the support and guidance of the DILG and the Philippine National Police, particularly in conducting trainings relative to their roles and functions as local officials. ||
