Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo thanked the St. Paul University-Dumaguete (SPUD), represented by its president, Sr. Mila Grace Silab, for donating 1,154 square meters of land to be used in the widening of Rovira Road in Barangay Bantayan.
Remollo said the lot donation will help the local government in implementing the seven-meter setback to help decongest traffic, up to crossing Bantayan, the city said April 29.
Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod last week authorized Remollo to sign the deed of donation and all other documents pertinent to the donation executed by the SPUD, in favor of the City of Dumaguete.

As part of the agreement, the City Government will reconstruct a new fence along the new property line to preserve the security of the SPUD compound, retrofit the school’s Guest House, and repair portion of the Nursery Community Center affected by the relocation of the perimeter fence.
Remollo said he is optimistic that the owners of the other affected private lots will also agree to donate a portion of their properties so that the setback will be fully realized, from Rovira Road to corner of North National Highway, a major traffic chokepoint in the city where a traffic light system can be established for a more efficient flow of vehicles. ||
