Honest model pedicab drivers and outstanding women farmers, who exemplify resilience and dedication, were recognized by the city during the Dumaguete People’s Week culmination program at Pantawan People’s Park Dec. 6.
The event is true reflection of the community’s strength and unity, city officials, led by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, said as they rallied for the continued progress and unity of Dumaguete.
Aside from the awarding ceremony, the People’s Week also featured an agri-booth fair and an intersectoral sports festival that showcased the talent, innovation, and collaboration of Dumagueteños across various sectors, the Local Youth Development Office said in a press release.
Representatives of people’s organizations and associations expressed gratitude to the city government for the event that attracted thousands and provided vendors, massage therapists, parking attendants, and entrepreneurs with a steady stream of clients and earnings.
Traditional Filipino games, such as takarang, palosebo, sack race, shakay, pukpok palayok, and paligid sa ligid, meanwhile, brought laughter and entertainment to residents and visitors alike.
Remollo congratulated all winners and participating associations and organizations for their cooperation and sportsmanship in ensuring the success of the Dumaguete People’s Week. ||
