Mayor Jeong Young Chul of Yeongdong-gun led officials in welcoming the first batch of 27 farm trainees from Dumaguete City upon their arrival in South Korea March 7.
The farm trainees compose the initial batch for year 2025 and attended the official welcome ceremony and orientation about Dumaguete’s sister city of Yeongdong-gun, which is a prelude to their immersion to farms in Korea.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo spoke to the farm trainees before they left for Cebu City en route to South Korea, and underscored his commitment to promote their welfare by assigning two employees from the Dumaguete local government to Yeongdong-gun so that their concerns will be appropriately addressed.
City Administrator Lilani Ramon also met with the farm trainees in Cebu City on the eve of their departure to ensure that all their documents are complete and in order, the city said.
In the coming weeks, additional batches of farm trainees will leave for Yeongdong-gun, which chose the recipients based on those who passed the criteria and those with good track record during their previous farm assignments. ||
