Dumaguete CDC okays P1.4B investment program for 2025

The City Development Council (CDC) of Dumaguete, presided over by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo approved Aug. 14 the Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2025, which includes programs, projects, and activities amounting to P1.4 billion, and aims to enhance the delivery of basic social services and infrastructure projects for Dumagueteños.

The proposed AIP budget shall be taken from the beginning balance of P76.5 million, local revenues of P515 million, and National Tax Allocation (NTA) share of P808.5 million, the city said Aug. 15.

The General Fund Proper of 2025 has been divided into the General Services Sector, with a proposed total budget of P554.4 million; Social Services Sector (health, nutrition, social welfare etc.), P235.1 million; Economic Sector (septage, agriculture, environment, slaughterhouse, etc.), P312.6 million, and five percent Gender and Development, P70 million.

Also approved are the programs, projects, and activities for the Local Council for the Protection of Children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, peace and order and public safety, local youth development campaign against illegal drugs, local nutrition, annual procurement, and cultural development.

The five percent Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, for disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response and early recovery, rehabilitation, as well as Quick Response Fund, amounts to P66.1 million.

The 20 percent Development Fund for infrastructure projects and environmental management was allocated P161.6 million, the city said.

Among the proposed projects and programs in the AIP include aid to indigent families in crisis situation at P16 million; assistance to component barangays for their priority projects, P22 million; for priority projects of the Sangguniang Kabataan, P4.250 million; medical allowance to qualified city employees at P7,000 each, for a total of P9.2 million;

Pamaskong Handog, P20 million; educational assistance to students, P12.3 million; purchase of medicines for residents, P5.5 million; and burial assistance for senior citizens at P3.5 million.

Remollo commended all members of the CDC for the careful deliberations and spirited exchanges with the end goal of maximizing the available resources for the good of the public, the city said.

The 2025 AIP will be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for adoption and ratification. ||
