The city government of San Carlos with the Kiwanis International held the 2nd Mayor Rene Gustilo Pintaflores Festival Duathlon and Amazing Race Nov. 13.
Winners in the men’s elite category were James Montero as first placer, who received a trophy and cash prize of P25,000, followed by Earl Leonila then Romulo Kalinas, who took home P15,000 and P10,000 as second and third place winners, respectively, as well as trophies.
In the women’s open category, Urika Duwalwayan was first place and got P10,000 in cash prize; Juvy Myco, second, P5,000; and Stefanie Cadusale, third, P3,000. Each also received a trophy.
In the 29 below category, the winners were Edgie Arances, first, P5,000; Clement John Vergara, second, P3,000; and Richard Rivera, third, P2,000.
The winners in the 30-39 category were Fernando Canorigo, first, P5,000; Kikoy Javelosa, second, P3,000; and Peter Paul Liberal, third, P2,000; while in the 40 up category, Edmar Balnasaca won first place, P5,000; Ray Uyanan in second, P3,000; and Felimon Solitario, third, P2,000, the city press release said.
Winners in the amazing race were Marlene Serad and Mark Danoso as first placers, who received trophies and P20,000; followed by Kikoy Javelosa and Dan Morancel, second, trophies and P10,000; and Mark Anthony Uberas and Christian Jan Rubrico, third, who got trophies and P5,000.
There were 120 participants for the duathlon competition from the cities of Cebu, Dumaguete, Guihulngan, Bayawan, Bacolod, Victorias, and Bohol; while 60 competed in the amazing race from the cities of Dumaguete, Bacolod, Victorias, Guihulngan, and Cebu.
Councilor Armando Laguda Jr. and president of the Kiwanis Club San Carlos and Councilor Benito Gustilo distributed the trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the winners.
