Following the successful 75-day deployment in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas held a debriefing session titled “Care for the Carers: Finding Meaning in Response Operations” for its personnel, who served during the Mt. Kanlaon operations since Dec. 9.
Approximately 400 staff members from Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, and Cebu provinces gathered at Summit Galleria in Cebu City March 28 to participate in the wellness event organized by DSWD7, which honored the Quick Response Teams (QRTs) that assisted families affected by the volcano eruption in Negros.
Psychosomatherapia, a group of psychologists and psychotherapists specializing in psychoeducation, psychological assessment, and training, facilitated the debriefing session, which covered several topics, including basic coping techniques.
Rev. Fr. Loreto Jaque, meanwhile, discussed “Dance and Laugh: Taking Care of Yourself While You Take Care of Others”, the DSWD7 said in a press release.
The department deployed three teams to Canlaon City to provide support and technical assistance to the local government unit. Each team rendered seven days of rotational duty from December to February. ||
