DSWD-NIR reg’l warehouse inaugurated in Dumaguete

The new regional warehouse of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) at the Eugenia Uymatiao Warehouse in Barangay Junob, Dumaguete City, was officially inaugurated recently.

The facility will serve as the regional warehouse for Negros Oriental, and will function as both a storage facility for food items (FI) and non-FIs, as well as the office of the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD).

The warehouse has a storage capacity of 20,000 food items and 5,000 non-food items, significantly strengthening the region’s disaster preparedness, relief operations, and emergency response capabilities, the department said in a press release May 28.

Through the establishment of the new regional warehouse, DSWD-NIR aims to improve the accessibility, efficiency, and timeliness of relief augmentation and disaster response operations, particularly for communities affected by disasters and emergencies in Negros Oriental and nearby areas.

The inauguration of the facility highlighted the department’s continuing commitment to enhancing disaster response infrastructure and ensuring the immediate availability of humanitarian assistance for affected individuals and families across the region. ||
