The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 6 said this afternoon, Sept. 7, that it temporarily stopped the online registration of applicants for educational assistance to students in crisis situation.

In an advisory, the DSWD 6 said their personnel need to process the information and details in the application of those who have earlier registered online, adding they will release additional information in their official Facebook account.

The agency reiterated that walk-in applicants are not accommodated in the payout center, and only those who have received text or email confirmation will be entertained in the scheduled assessment and disbursement of cash assistance.

The fourth assessment and payout schedule is on Saturday, Sept. 10, in designated centers all over Western Visayas, including in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

The DSWD urged applicants to avoid repeated online registration, or applying via the drop box even if one already registered online, since this will delay the processing of application as its personnel will need to further validate the information in the recurring applications.

Around P76.5 million in cash assistance had been released by the DSWD6 to 27,280 indigent students, based on its consolidated data after the three payouts.

Of the amount, P15.98 million was disbursed to 5,335 beneficiaries in Bacolod and Negros Occidental, 971 of them in the elementary, 824 in high school, 793 in senior high school, and 2,747 in college.

Bulk of the assistance went to 9,135 students in Iloilo city and province at P27.32 million. Capiz followed Negros Occidental/Bacolod with the highest payout amount of P9.82 million for 3,762 students; Aklan, P9.56 million for 3,679 beneficiaries; Antique, P8.84 million released to 3,237 students; and Guimaras, P5.01 million for 2,132 students.
