Drug personality shot dead in Kabankalan

A suspected drug personality was shot to death by a still unidentified gunman at Purok 6, Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday (July 10).

The police identified the victim as Cedrix Jaro, alias “Odong,” 21, of Barangay Locotan.

Witnesses told the police that they heard gunshots before the victim was found sprawling on the road.

Jaro was declared dead on arrival at the Tabugon Primary Hospital, also in Kabankalan City.

PLt. Col. Roberto Indiape, Kabankalan City police chief, said that they have identified a person of interest in the shooting, which was reportedly triggered by a grudge.

Investigators recovered from the scene of incident a fired cartridge, two slugs and a live ammunition of caliber .45 pistol, a lighter, and an elongated foil.

Meanwhile, a construction worker was shot dead at Purok Masagana, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City also on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old victim, whose identity is being withheld by the police, succumbed to a gunshot injury in the chest.

PCapt. Dax Santillan, chief of Police Station 6, said that two suspects were involved in the shooting of the victim, who was declared dead on arrival at a hospital. | GB
