The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office said it constructed two multi-purpose buildings (MPBs) and a barangay hall, all worth about P25 million, in three towns in the province.

The P14.8-million two-storey MPB will serve as a dormitory for students of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) in Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan. The building will provide a safe and convenient shelter for students from distant areas, allowing them to reside within the school campus, thus ensuring their safety and convenience, the DPWH said.

The P4.9-million barangay hall of Brgy. 5 in Isabela functions as the office of the punong barangay and provides a meeting space for the Sangguniang Barangay. The hall is also designed to host various activities, including medical missions, distribution of relief goods, religious events, fiestas, and sports competitions.

DPWH6 regional director Sanny Boy Oropel said in a statement April 23 that these projects aim to foster community development and enhance the quality of life of the residents.

“The buildings symbolize the strides towards a more connected and vibrant communities,” Oropel stressed. ||
