The Department of Public Works and Highways Bacolod City District Engineering Office has asked the Sangguniang Panlungsod for a Resolution of No Objection (RONO) on the cutting of trees in eight project sites.

These projects, mostly flood control structures, include the construction of revetment with floodwall at Bakyas Creek in Barangay Alijis; revetment at Sum-ag River; revetment with floodwall including improvement of riverbank at the Banago River in Barangay Bata; revetment with floodwall at Cabacawan Creek in Estefania; flood control structure with riverbank improvement at Pequino Creek in Banago; and construction of roads in Alangilan, 39, and 40.

OIC District Engineer Leah Jamero said the RONO is one of the requirements of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the issuance of a tree-cutting permit.

Jamero said the concerned barangay councils have also already issued their respective RONOs on the planned cutting of trees.

She said the prompt issuance of an SP resolution interposing no objection to the cutting of trees that will be affected by the projects is needed so as not to delay the project completion. | CGC
