Displaced Himamaylan families receive government assistance

Families displaced by the series of gunbattles last month in the hinterlands of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, are getting assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Regional DSWD personnel yesterday distributed financial assistance to 1,927 beneficiaries in 20 hinterland sitios of Brgy. Carabalan in the City, at the barangay covered court.

The DSWD Field Office 6 reported that it has distributed P657,000 in financial assistance through AICS, to affected families staying at various evacuation centers in Himamaylan Oct. 17.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development officer Merle Garcia recalled that each family that stayed at the evacuation centers received P3,000 in financial assistance.

The DSWD regional office is also set to distribute today financial assistance to 993 other affected families residing in seven sitios of Brgy. Carabalan, and 246 families in two sitios of Brgy. Cabadiangan, all in Himamaylan City.
