All is set for the activation of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City on March 27.
PBrig. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, said on Tuesday (March 25) that Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla will lead the activation ceremony.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil is also expected to attend.
Wanky, who led the inauguration and blessing of the La Castellana Police Station in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, said the entire forces of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Bacolod City Police Office, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Western Visayas units stationed in the province will be placed under the supervision of PRO-NIR.
The Negros Oriental and Siquijor Police Provincial Offices will also be supervised by the PRO-NIR.
Wanky said the incoming PRO-NIR chief and its regional staff will also be announced on March 27.
In previous months, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said police personnel who would be affected by the deactivation of the Area Police Command, formerly known as the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations, might be transferred to the PRO-NIR.
Republic Act 12000, signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in June last year, created an administrative region comprising Negros Occidental, including the highly urbanized Bacolod City, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor. | GB
