Key officials of the Dumaguete City government, led by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, joined students, teachers, and administrators of the Department of Education Schools Division of Dumaguete at the launching of Brigada Eskwela at the City Central Elementary School July 22.

Remollo reiterated his strong support to the programs, projects, and activities that will improve access and quality of education for students, both in private and public schools, to produce competent, righteous, and honest professionals, who will become the country’s conscientious leaders or productive citizens.

Schools Division superintendent, Marina Salamanca, and assistant schools’ division superintendent Edmark Ian Cabio, thanked Remollo, on behalf of the teachers, students and parents, for his consistent support, and particularly for the recent acquisition of the Cittadini campus that is now the home of the City Central Elementary School and Calindagan Elementary School.

Remollo said he is inspired by the industry and dedication of the teachers, and the enthusiasm of the students to learn and acquire the skills and values to become successful professionals.

He cited the success stories of Atty. Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, retired police general Rey Lyndon Lawas, scientist Marvin Flores, and other products of public schools, who excelled in public service, science and technology, sports and the arts, as his motivation in providing support to DepEd Dumaguete.

The six-day National Schools Maintenance Week, or Brigada Eskwela, brings together stakeholders in the spirit of bayanihan to contribute their time, efforts, and resources in the cleanup, repair, and repainting of school facilities, landscaping, repair and replacement of electrical connection, and lighting facilities to prepare the public schools for the opening of classes on July 29, the city said, adding the theme of this year’s Brigada Eskwela is “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan”. ||
