Deadly weapon, drugs seized at 2 checkpoints

Three suspects possessing illegal drugs and a deadly weapon were arrested by the police at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoints in Bacolod City and Don Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental on Jan. 14.

In Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, the two suspects were identified as “Aljon” and “Romnick”, both residents of Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia.

Their arrest yielded 0.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,400 and a 10-inch knife.

During the inspection, “Aljon” was seen by the police to have dropped a transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.

A certain “Wilson”, 24, was flagged down at Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto for not wearing a helmet, and was also arrested after two sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from his possession.

Five other drug suspects, one of them a minor, were apprehended by the police in Escalante City and Hinigaran town.

Operatives confiscated about nine grams of suspected shabu valued at P52,000, a caliber .38 revolver with three ammunition, among other items. | GB
