Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr. has created a transition team in preparation for the establishment of the regional office for Negros Island Region (NIR), Jose Albert Barrogo, officer-in-charge (OIC) regional director, said yesterday.
Barrogo said that the transition team is tasked to put in place an interim plan that would prioritize the organizational structure to determine the most cost- effective and economical way of assigning personnel, and the financial requirements for the operation of the regional office.
This will be submitted to Laurel for his approval by December, he added.
Barrogo said that they are targeting to open a temporary regional office in Bacolod City by January next year.
Aside from Barrogo, Alejandro Rafal has also been designated as OIC-regional technical director for operations and extension on Oct. 4.
Barrogo said that they will establish an agricultural road map for NIR through a planning-workshop to be participated by all local government units in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
Meanwhile, members of the Department of Health transition team led by Dr. Razel Nikka Hao met with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod City officials on Tuesday.
They are working to establish a regional office in Negros Oriental, and satellite offices in Negros Oriental and Siquijor. | GB
