Twelve persons, including a Sangguniang Kabataan kagawad, were arrested while more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu were recovered in a series of buy-busts in Negros Occidental, including highly-urbanized Bacolod City, over the weekend.
On Oct. 25, two were arrested by operatives of Bacolod City Police Office City Drug Enforcement Unit at Purok Kabuhi in Barangay 10.
The apprehension of alias “Julian” and alias “Nick” yielded 70 grams of suspected shabu value at P476,000.
In Barangay Nanca, E.B. Magalona town, policemen recovered 55 grams of suspected shabu worth P374,000 from alias “John” while in Barangay 2, Silay City, alias “Matthew”, a Sangguniang Kabataan councilman, was arrested with seven grams of suspected shabu valued at P47,600.
Six other suspected drug peddlers were arrested in the cities of San Carlos, Sagay, Silay, Kabankalan, and Cadiz, as well as in Isabela town, which led to the recovery of 18 grams of suspected shabu amounting to P122,400.
On Oct. 26, operatives arrested two individuals with aliases “Jose” and “Lloyd” at Purok Boulevard in Barangay 14, Bacolod City.
Both yielded eight grams of suspected shabu valued at P54,400.
All the 12 suspects, who are now locked up in police custodial facilities, are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. | GB
