Anti-illegal drug operations were conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at key transport hubs across the Negros Island Region in the first five days of 2026.

The regionwide random K9 inspections and passenger profiling operations, through PDEA-NIR’s Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit (SIU), involved the deployment of Narcotic Detection Dogs (NDD) “Uno”, “Mappy”, and “Ace”, with no dangerous drugs, controlled precursors, or essential chemicals detected, the agency said.

From Jan. 1-5, the K9 inspection and visibility operations were done at Ceres Bus Terminal in Dumaguete City, Dumaguete–Sibulan Airport in Sibulan town, the Dumaguete Port, and DGT Van Terminal, all in Negros Oriental.

Similar operations were also held at the San Carlos City Public Transport Terminal, San Carlos City Roro Port, and at the Bacolod City South Terminal.

“These operations aim to deter the transportation of illegal drugs and ensure the safety and security of the commuting public, particularly during the holiday travel surge,” the PDEA-NIR said in a statement, adding it “remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the public through continuous and intensified interdiction operations across the NIR, especially during peak travel periods.” | CGC
