An abandoned and heavily damaged boat carrying suspected smuggled cigarettes was discovered along the shoreline of Purok 3 in Barangay Lina-on, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on July 11.
Police investigation showed the boat had sustained extensive damage and appeared to have been abandoned along the shoreline.
Responding personnel of the Cauayan police and Philippine Coast Guard recovered a total of 162 packs of suspected smuggled cigarettes, consisting of 126 packs of Canon Menthol cigarettes and 36 packs of Bison cigarettes.
Police probers are still trying to determine the origin of the boat and the identities of the individuals responsible for the delivery of suspected smuggled cigarettes. | GPB
