Dynamic Builders and Construction Co. Inc. is giving up its 50-year lease agreement for the site of the old Provincial Administration Center (PAC) in Bacolod City, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Lacson said he is awaiting a formal letter from the contractor, confirming its decision to abandon the lease and development of the property, which was intended for a mixed-use building.
The lease agreement, signed during the administration of former governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., covered a 6,485-square meter portion of prime provincial government property along Gatuslao St., with an annual lease valued at about P5.7 million.
Lacson said the provincial government may reopen the property for bidding, similar to the previous process, unless it decides to use the site for another provincial government building.
He clarified that the contractor’s decision concerns only the lot beside the new PAC, stressing that it is not abandoning the construction of the new provincial administration building.
Lacson said Dynamic Builders had assured him that it would complete and turn over the new PAC to the provincial government by December this year.
The new PAC is expected to house provincial government offices. | GPB
