Construction worker nabbed with firearm

A construction worker was arrested with a gun at a checkpoint manned by elements of the San Carlos Police Station in Sitio Medina, Barangay Rizal in the city Oct. 20.

Jesus Clabario, 39, of Fatima Village, Phase 4, in the barangay, was nabbed in possession of a .357 Smith and Wesson caliber pistol without serial number and loaded with five ammunition, two identification cards, a black holster, and a fatigue sling bag.

San Carlos police deputy chief for administration, P/Lt. Robi Aurita, said charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, will be filed against the suspect, who is detained at the custodial facility of the police station./MML

Laborer stabbed dead in Escalante

          A laborer was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, after he was stabbed in Sitio Tabunok 3, Barangay Paitan, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, Oct. 20.

          The victim was identified by the police as Guillermo Tuanda, 48, and a resident of the place.

          The victim and the suspect, identified as Santiago Sabillano, also a laborer, were both under the influence of liquor when the stabbing incident ensued, police investigations show.

          Sabillano fled after the incident. — GB

Guard arrested with loose gun

          A security guard, who tried to evade a police checkpoint, was arrested in Brgy. 2, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, for illegal possession of firearms Oct. 20.

Marvin Gonzaga, 27, and a resident of Brgy. Binubuhan, Bago City, was driving a motorcycle and ignored the signal for him to stop at a police checkpoint.

          He was arrested by pursuing policemen of La Carlota City, and yielded an Armscor 9mm pistol with a magazine containing four ammunition and a black Rusi motorcycle.

          Gonzaga is now detained at the custodial facility of the La Carlota City Police Station. — GB

P112K in shabu seized

Three drug suspects were arrested with P112,400 in suspected shabu in drug-bust operations in Bacolod City Oct. 20.

 P/Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that Station 9 Drug Enforcement Team members arrested Marjo Salado Garcia, 26, of Brgy. Tangub, after he sold suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

PS5 personnel, headed by their station commander, P/Capt. John Christopher Masangkay, nabbed Ferlyn Amarela Parandas, 37, of Purok Cheriza, Brgy. 27 in the city, in a buy-bust operation in Purok Pedring, Brgy. Estefania.

Confiscated from her were about 12 grams of suspected shabu, worth P81,000, Gabana said.

PS3 operatives also arrested a street level individual, identified as Rejie Saberon Edianel, alias “Banoy”, 36, with five sachets of suspected shabu, worth P17,800, during a drug-bust in Purok Rosas Pandan, Brgy. Banago. — CGC
