The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is targeting 200,000 voter-registrants in Negros Occidental, with the implementation of the Registration Anywhere Program (RAP) ahead of the May 2025 mid-term elections.
Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said that the RAP, which will kick off on Feb. 23, will allow voters who are either working or studying in capital towns and cities as well as highly-urbanized cities like Bacolod City to register in their hometowns.
It will also make easier to register, reactivate and transfer registration for voters under the new program, he added.
“If it is successful in priority areas it will be replicated in other local government units,” Ananoria added.
He also said that the Comelec in Negros Occidental is ready for the launch of the voters registration on Feb. 12, which has been designated by the Comelec as “Araw ng Botante.”
In the May 2025 mid-term elections, voters will cast their votes for 12 senators, members of the House of Representatives and provincial, city and municipal officials. | GB
