Comelec satellite registrations in Bacolod brgys start Feb. 17

The Commission on Elections Bacolod said satellite registrations for the May 2025 midterm elections will start tomorrow, Feb. 17, at the Pahanocoy covered court in the barangay, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Feb. 24, the list-up will be at the Banago Elementary School covered court; March 1, Mandalagan barangay hall; March 2, Alijis barangay gymnasium; March 9, Punta Taytay barangay hall; March 15, Bata barangay gymnasium in Purok Marapara; March 16, Mansilingan barangay gymnasium; March 22, Felisa gymnasium;

March 23, Gonzaga gymnasium for Barangay Taculing residents; April 6, Villamonte barangay gymnasium; April 13, J.R Torres Elementary School covered court in Barangay Singcang-Airport; and at Tangub barangay gymnasium in Ramylu Drive on April 20.

Voting age residents of all 61 barangays of Bacolod City may file their application for registration, transfer, reactivation, and correction of entry on these dates, the Comelec Bacolod said in an advisory.

For registration, transfer, reactivation, or correction of entry, residents 21 years old and above should bring a valid government issued card and the address should show the barangay where he or she intends to register, while applicants below 21 years old should also bring a birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Those who want to correct the spelling of their name in the voter’s list or date of birth must bring a copy of their PSA birth certificate, while for change of marital status, a PSA marriage contract is required.

The Comelec is urging applicants to bring the original and photocopies of required documents/ID. Those with internet and printer are also encouraged to fill-in the CEF-1 registration form that can be downloaded via https://comelec.gov.ph/?r=VoterRegistration%2FApplicationsForms&fbclid=IwAR1mfjlfWNdaLsA_X94xoDZ2eBAr3Z63OQ6RP6Fng9U2HRgsIX54s1btaWs, and bring this and the required ID/documents during the scheduled registration.

The Office of the Election Officer Bacolod, meanwhile, said the voters’ education and registration fair will be held on Feb. 23 at SM City Bacolod. “All voting age residents of Negros Occidental may also file their applications on this day as all 32 cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental shall also conduct their satellite registrations at the mall.”

No registration shall be conducted at the Office of the Election Officer at BAYS Center at San Juan Street, Bacolod during the schedule satellite registrations.

The Comelec Negros Occidental earlier said it is targeting about 200,000 additional voters for next year’s elections. Voter registration started Feb. 12 and will end on Sept. 30, 2024.

In the Oct. 2023 Barangay ang Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, the provincial Comelec logged 2.6 million voters, with more than 660,000 for the SK polls, and two million regular voters.

The highly-urbanized Bacolod City recorded the most number of regular voters at about 340,000, and more than 100,000 SK voters./CGC
