City gov’t turns over P13-M in school supplies for students

The Bacolod City government turned over the 70,735 packs of school supplies, all worth P13 million, in a ceremony held at the Bacolod City National High School gym Nov. 3.

The turnover was led by Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Education, executive assistant IV Carmeli Bantug-Zayco, EA III in charge of education Atty. Bong Dilag, and EA I Nancy Discutido, and the packs officially received by BCNHS principal Richard Gelangre, with several other school principals in attendance.

Mayor Alfredo Benitez, Espino, and secretary to the mayor, Atty. Joseph Chiu, Wednesday made sure that all the school supplies for the 70,735 preschool and grades 1 to 6 public school students were properly packed and ready for distribution.

Preschool pupils will receive notebooks, jumbo crayons, popsicle or craft sticks, glue, non-pointed scissors, pencils, and plastic envelopes, the city PIO said.

Grades 1 to 6 students, on the other hand, will get notebooks, a ruler, double crayons, grade pad paper, sharpener, pencils, ball pens, and plastic envelopes, it added. ||
