The Bacolod City government will grant performance-based bonus to its employees, after it received the 2020 Seal of Good Local Governance Award from the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the recognition is a testimony “to the exemplary performance of his administration and employees even in the midst of the many hurdles brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic”.

This is the second time in-a-row that Bacolod was given the SGLG Award. In 2019, the LGU also received the Seal from the national government that allowed the city to grant bonuses to employees.

The DILG said Bacolod is a Seal awardee and is entitled to again give incentives or the performance-based bonus (PBB) to workers “for their unwavering service and dedication to serve their constituents”.

Bacolod City government employees will receive performance-based bonus in December, said Mayor Evelio Leonardia

“We are happy that, once again, for the second consecutive year, we have this recognition. This is a validation that Bacolod City, as an LGU, has performed very well,” Leonardia said in a press release from the city. “The employees deserve to get the extra bonus just like last year. We have to give it to them because they are the core of public service,” he added.

Under a memorandum circular issued by the DILG, employees belonging to the “Best Performing Offices” shall receive a bonus equivalent to 0.65 of their gross monthly pay, while those in “Better Performing Offices” shall be given a PBB equivalent to 0.575 of their gross monthly salary.

The SGLG criteria have seven governance core areas, including financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental protection, and tourism, culture and the arts.

The city has yet to announce how many employees will receive the PBB, and the amount to be granted. | NND
