The municipality of E. B. Magalona officially switched on its Christmas lights around the town proper in a ceremony Dec. 7, to herald the start of the Yuletide season in the town.
The ceremony was led by Mayor Marvin Malacon, Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan, with 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez as special guest.
Malacon thanked Benitez for his deep love for Saraviahanons, and for his strong support to the activities and programs of the municipality.
With the switch-on ceremony, the town proper turns more festive at nighttime since its surrounding premises, including the municipal building, municipal lagoon, Asenso Hall, public plaza, Saravia Commercial Building, and the St. Joseph the Worker Parish are festooned with dazzling Christmas lights.
The switch-on was preceded by a zumba party at the plaza. After the ceremony, revelers were entertained by local band Cali Island, while enjoying the food and drinks at various kiosks around the plaza.
Adding color and fun to the festive celebration were delightful performances of singer Lyzette Pollentes, Tanza Elementary School Rondalla, the St. Joseph the Worker Parish Choir and Youth Organization, DepEd Chorale, Teatro Laragway, and the municipal government office heads, a press release from the LGU said.
A fireworks’ display and community singing capped off the switch-on ceremony.
The municipality is holding three nights of festivities, from Dec. 7 to 9, to signal the start of the Christmas season here, and revelers get to be entertained by one live band per night at the plaza. ||
