In the spirit of compassion and community, the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) is calling on donors, organizations, and groups to join hands in supporting CHMSUyanihan: Operasyon Bangon Quinto Distrito, a relief initiative for families and individuals severely affected by Typhoon Tino in the 5th District of Negros Occidental.

Running until Nov. 14, the campaign seeks cash and in-kind donations for affected communities, in collaboration with CHMSU students, employees, and alumni in the district.

The campaign is organized by the Center for Internationalization and External Relations (CIER) and the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government (FCUSG), in partnership with the Office of 5th District Rep. Dino Yulo and Art Relief Mobile Kitchen.

CHMSUyanihan is appealing to generous donors for in-kind contributions, such as drinking water, rice, hygiene kits, towels, blankets, utensils, and tumblers.

Donations may be dropped off at any of the four CHMSU campuses – Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay (main).

Cash donations may be sent via GCash to account number 0938-658-0015, under the name of FCUSG treasurer Chrisha Joy Natividad, a CHMSU press release said.

For more information, contact CIER information officer Ma. Faustina Magbanua at 0910-004-5178.

Staff, students, and alumni of CHMSU, meanwhile, joined the #BrigadangAyala Relief Operations Nov. 8 in the municipalities of Binalbagan and Isabela.

Led by Ayala Corporation, employee-volunteers from the Bank of the Philippine Islands, BanKo, Globe Telecom, Gcash, Ayala Land, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Honda, Seda Capitol Central, Generika Drugstore, and Band ACEN brought relief goods to families staying at Tinongan National High School in Isabela, and at the Binalbagan Multipurpose Gym.

The volunteers were warmly welcomed by Negros Occidental 5th District Rep. Dino Yulo, Isabela Mayor Miguel Angelo Yulo, and officials of Binalbagan.

Aside from assisting in the distribution of relief packages, the CHMSUans also took charge in the fun and games for children staying in evacuation centers.

Also actively supporting the post-typhoon operations in Binalbagan are the ROTC officers and cadets, along with volunteer-students of CHMSU Binalbagan Campus, a press release from the school said, adding it stands together with partners and stakeholders in reaching more families and communities affected by Typhoon Tino. ||
