A Chinese businessman died while his business partner was injured after they were allegedly shot by a fellow Chinese national inside a warehouse compound in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, March 7.
One of the victims, identified only by the police as “Sunny”, 59, died at a private hospital in Bacolod City.
The other victim, “Peter”, 30, is being treated in the same facility, according to the police.
The suspect “Jimmy”, 51, also a businessman, is the brother of “Sunny.”
He was arrested by policemen, who responded to the shooting incident, which took place inside the warehouse compound of A.U. and Sons Merchandising Inc. in Sitio Polo, Barangay Bubog.
PLt. Col. Salvador Trono Jr., chief of Talisay City Police Station, said they were conducting checkpoint operations along the national highway when they were informed of the shooting incident by the employees of the victims.
While responding, they were able to arrest the fleeing suspect, he added.
A witness identified only as “Beverly” told the police that she heard a gunshot from the office of “Sunny”.
As the suspect was leaving the office, he also shot “Peter” without any provocation, the witness said.
“Sunny” succumbed to a gunshot injury in the head.
Police investigators recovered a 9mm pistol, which was reportedly thrown by the suspect while fleeing, and a fired cartridge.
Both victims are engaged in the selling of construction materials.
Personal grudge is among the motives being considered by the police. | GB
